Values

When you choose Ninth House Collection, you're nurturing a community of artisans and craftsmen. American small, family, and woman-owned businesses are my primary sources for materials, supplies, and services. Together, we form a chain of creativity and craftsmanship embracing old world crafts, slow fashion, and sustainability to bring you thoughtfully made accessories you can't find anywhere else.

My Story

From the Country to the City

Hi, I'm Adrienne. I'm a marketer by day, but when the sun sets, I embrace my true calling as an artist. I've been a maker since I could hold a crayon and each piece here is crafted with my own two hands and a lot of love. Growing up on a cattle ranch in rural Central Texas, I had lots of time to pursue creative endeavors and spent my early years drawing, writing, and exploring the outdoors. Art has always had a place in my life, even when I went to college (Hook 'em Horns!) and began a career in advertising before Mad Men made it cool for everyone else. Painting was my side-hustle and a good way to cope with work stress.

My Journey into Leather Crafting

Jewelry is my other life-long love. Some of my earliest memories are discovering treasures in my mom & grandmother's jewelry boxes. I even learned to forge silver and copper rings as a teenager, but my journey into leather crafting began on a whim many years later. Fast forward to 2009, I decided to take matters into my own hands (literally!) and create custom jewelry after becoming frustrated not finding bracelets I wanted to wear in my size. Never one to pass up an opportunity to learn a new craft and DIY, I purchased a few tools and some scrap leather to get started.

As I spent more time learning about and working with leather, I was intrigued with stamp designs more than the traditional styles of leather tooling and carving. Turns out that stamping a leather motif can be a good stress reliever...and also really upset the neighbors if you live in an apartment! I was hooked and excited to make my mark with this centuries-old craft and share the gift of handcrafted leather jewelry with others.

Ninth House Collection Launches + Evolves

In 2014, I decided it was time to take this passion to the next level, and Ninth House Collection was launched. My work evolved in 2020 as I accomplished a life-long goal of becoming a metalsmith. The Collection combines my love of art, vintage materials, and jewelry into one-of-a-kind and limited edition designs inspired by my Texas roots, Art Nouveau & Art Deco design, and free-spirited style. A mixture of antique, vintage, and new hardware components are used in my leather goods and my metalwork incorporates sterling silver and jeweler's brass with natural stones from reputable lapidaries.

Ninth House Symbolism

The Ninth House in astrology is the domain of travel, freedom, spirituality, and the search for meaning and purpose. It plays a big role in my own natal chart. Through this artisanal journey, I have discovered a path that allows me to connect creatively with the universe, nature, and people all over the world. I am thankful to have a passion I can share with others that keeps my mind and hands from being idle. I channel lots of positive energy, love, and time into each and every piece so it becomes something special and sentimental to you. When I send out my work, I'm sending a piece of myself along with it. It is so exciting and rewarding to have you make my creations a part of your own style and stories.

Thank you for being a part of my story. I hope you find a piece here that speaks to you!

With love & gratitude,

-Adrienne
